About Lucy Deane

My name is Lucy Deane, and I am an American folk artist and animal portrait artist.

Since I was very young I spent a lot of my time drawing. I mostly drew horses, which I was, and still am crazy about. I learnt to ride at the age of six. I believe that my love of the American west stems from my love of horses. It must be the beautiful western saddles.

I first went to America and Canada when I was seventeen years old, visiting family. In 2008 my husband and I took a road trip in the US, taking in ten of the western states. The trip was totally life-changing. We were particularly overwhelmed by Yellowstone National Park, although every National Park was incredible. We have visited America every year since then to see more of the National Parks, State Parks and monuments.

I have come away from these trips full of inspiration, and with a fascination with the American Indian art and culture, and strive to learn more about them.
